About

Since 1969, Asbury House Child Enrichment Center has transformed low-income families in Longview by providing an affordable, high-quality Christian preschool to nurture children’s minds, bodies, and hearts. We provide an exemplary early childhood education for disadvantaged children in order to give them the best possible start in their educational career.

At the core of our mission is the idea that love can change a family for generations. This is something that we have seen time and time again in the over 2,000 children who have come through our doors since we were founded as a mission of the North District of the United Methodist Church in 1969.

The families we serve are persevering through financial struggles and must be working, in job training, or in school. Our income-based weekly tuition helps families “get on the other side” of their circumstances. Working families, college students, single parents, grandparents raising grandchildren, Spanish-speaking families, and foster families all come together at The House That Love Built.

Currently 25 percent of children in Longview are living in poverty, and the average cost of two children in preschool greatly exceeds the average rent for a two-bedroom apartment. The need remains great for us to provide affordable tuition as we strive to break the cycle of generational poverty.
